Michele Cota began Nu Leafe Alpaca as a way to generate supplemental income and realize
a lifestyle dream while raising her two daughters in the Green Mountains of Vermont. An agricultural-based, family-friendly business
held great appeal for Michele, a native Vermonter and animal lover.
Prior to purchasing her first alpacas, Michele invested a great deal of time and effort in educating herself about the characteristics of alpacas and alpaca fiber and the
realities of the alpaca business. Reading, visiting farms and attending shows and seminars all contributed to helping Michele form
her own vision of the "ideal alpaca". Michele's efforts have resulted in a small herd of carefully selected breeding alpacas.
As a very busy mother and small business owner - Michele owns Nu Leafe Beauty Studio in Montpelier, VT
- Michele made the decision to entrust
the daily care of her herd to a nearby alpaca farm. As a result, the Nu Leafe herd is boarded at
Snowshoe Farm in Peacham, VT, less than an hour from
Michele's home. Michele sees this arrangement as a definite "win" for a busy alpaca owner. Ron and Terry Miller, owners of Snowshoe Farm, have known
and worked with Michele since the beginning of her effort to build her herd. They understand and respect Michele's breeding goals and
Michele appreciates that her alpacas have full-time care at Snowshoe Farm. Boarding her alpacas at a larger farm also provides more exposure for the alpacas that
Michele has decided to offer for sale. For more information about Nu Leafe Alpaca, please contact Michele
